Musing from a contemplative mind....

I spoke with an old friend recently. Years ago he wanted to propose to this girl, but he didn't have enough money for a really nice ring. So he scrimped and saved and tried to get something nice for his hopefully soon to be wife. The big day came and he proposed. She said it was too small, she said it was not nice enough, he told her that this was just a starter ring-- she rejected his token of his love for her. I knew another couple, they were in college and he worked to save up enough money to get her an engagement ring. It wasn't much by comparison to a lot of other rings, but it represented the best that he had to offer. The day came to pop the question and she gladly accepted... He told her that he could get her something nicer later, almost apologizing at its size, but this was what he could afford at the moment. She snickered at his suggestion, but he thought as life progresses that will change.

Years later he looked at the ring he bought her in college and commented about its size and that she deserved better. "It's time for a upgrade" he insisted. Once again she snickered as his suggestion... and then he was reminded of why he proposed to her in the first place.
