Musing from a contemplative mind....
Ground Zero
I spent today in NYC doing the typical touristy things, visiting the empire state building, strolling down broadway and such... but I also went to ground zero where the twin towers collapsed. There is a one mile square hole in the ground that is a haunting reminder of what took place four short years ago. There is an erie calm that seems to juxtapose the rest of NYC and the financial district where it once stood. Hustle and bustle all around, but quiet comtemplation within that space. As you walk around you see people's faces dumbfounded with the disbelief that something so horrible and so final took place on these grounds. There are three people who spent hours of their time reading about the people who died on 9/11. Bryan Thomason....Jill Thomason....each name is called forth as if a graduation has taken place. Their stories, their triumphs and their life is shared for all to hear. And for a moment you are not weeping for a massive group, but for an individual that you never knew, but you are pretty sure that you would have liked to if you had had the chance.
