Musing from a contemplative mind....
Take your medicine, it will make you feel better?
The perpetuation of drugs in our society is alarming. When you are young if you are creative and a little rascally you are classified with ADD and given the drug Ritalin. Middle aged people are instructed to do a psychological self evaltuation "Do you feel, blue and melancholy sometimes." (Like who doesn't, right) "Then you are clinically depressed and there is little pill to take care of you what ails you." When you are old you have old people pills, memory loss, loss of sex drive -- need I go on. So there you go - you are drugged up from the cradle to the grave. Drug companies are now marketing to you. Asking you to find the symptom and ask you doctor, who has been educated by the drug company how to sell and administer all of these wonderful, colorful, amazing, revolutionary, helpful pills.
So what is the end game? It's not to make you well, but just well enough that you will keep coming back for more. What is the justification of such a monolith in society? People are living longer? Are they, or are the just not dying? Which brings us to the point of why we have all these wonder drugs anyways? Has anyone asked the question - why is the child hyperactive? or attention deficient? - perhaps they suck as a parents and give the kid no actual boundaries. Maybe a child is incredibly creative and is not stimulated or challenged? What about depression? Is there a purpose to why someone is depressed, are there life changes, dietary issues, spiritual matters that they should attend to? The elderly are taking drugs to maintain something they had younger in life and why do elderly people need to rely on themselves more than ever, because their children are off chasing down the American dream so they don't have the time or the inclination to take care of the parents; So elderly people see that they are going to be stuck in a home where they will be treated like a plant. Talked to, fed, watered (and given their needful and necessary medication)
The drug companies sit back and watch the whole thing play out and they know that they are the big winners and we all become big losers.
