I am at the store and there are hearts and signs everywhere that arrest my vision. Valentine’s Day is supposed to be a sweet and genteel reminder to take a moment to express your love for special people in your life. For some that is true. For others it has become a compulsory act. There is a part of me that says if you need a day to manipulate your actions then you are missing it. Is it special if a husband/bf/so other buys his wife/gf/so other flowers on Valentine’s Day? Excuse my cynicism on this but I would say no. It’s not bad to do that but the whole world is telling you to buy something, to show her how much you love her and so reluctantly you acquiesce, because that is what is expected? What would you rather receive, flowers because he did something nice on some random day , a book because she thought of you or a card with someone else’s thoughts and gift packaged with someone else’s imagination? If you want to not disappoint on Valentine’s day, then treat her like she should be the other 364 days.
There is a Valentine' gift worth giving and recieving.
