Musing from a contemplative mind....
Why wait?
It is paradoxical that God has called us to wait and yet has wired us with impatience. Yet there is a value in waiting. Waiting bring us focus. When we are a child we wait for some exciting event. The words, “I can not wait” are said over and over. The waiting compels to think about the upcoming event. When we are young we wait for our spouse, we wait physically and we wait emotionally. We talk about her or him, though we don’t know who they are – we say I hope that they will be, or I am looking for this. When we are a little older we wait for children. Someone becomes pregnant and then there are nine months of waiting, of preparation, of thinking about this individual that you don’t know, but you anticipate their arrival. Again waiting brings us focus. God also calls us to wait on him, because it forces us to focus on Him. There is a value and a purpose in the process of waiting.
