I was having this conversation with another guy. We were talking about relationships and he said that I was crazy for getting married at 22. He said that I didn't know what I was missing in almost a mocking tone. He went on to talk about the wonders of single life and how he was never going make the "mistake" that I made. Finally I responded to him and said, "you do what you do because you can't do what I do". He squinted his eyes and kind of laughed. What do you mean, he said. I repeated myself for effect - "you do what you do cause you can't do what I do." Any fool can impress a girl on a couple of dates, but what happens when the newness wears off? I went on to explain that he did what he did cause he knew that he only had a few tricks in his bag. So he has to keep recycling them. He implied that was insulting, which I told him that being mocked at for getting married young is insulting too. Things were starting to go somewhere I didn't care to go so I stepped away before they did.
Since when is it stupid to do the right thing and enjoy doing the right thing?
